Sue Beevers
The last 30-plus years of Sue Beevers' life have been spent immersed in the fiber world, first as a spinner, weaver and dyer, and now as a fabric painter and
quilter. She has traveled extensively, giving lectures and workshops to teach weaving, spinning and dyeing throughout the United States and at major fiber
conferences. Her work is featured in collections in the United States, Europe and Japan. Sue first began painting fabric that she had woven herself.
Painting proved to be such an interesting visual that she concentrated less on the weaving and more on the painting. Now, she paints almost exclusively
on commercially made fabrics. Many of her pieces have been framed as works of art. Painted fabrics led Sue to discover quilting, an art form she approaches
much the same way she does a collage. Other artists use Sue's painted fabrics to express their own, sometimes very different, design visions, an extension
that Sue finds fascinating. Sue is author of Off-the-Shelf Fabric Painting, which demonstrates her renowned fabric painting techniques. The book was one of
